front page!

My violet zippered wristlet has been featured on Etsy's front page of Etsy today! Of course I missed it when it actually was on the front page but it is still exciting!
It was a beautiful treasury made by chicalessia. She has a lovely shop where she sells beautiful feminine jewelry and the cutest beads and charms.

My OOAK crazy patchwork pouch/wristlet was only in the alternatives in this treasury.
This romantic violet wristlet has a flower on the front made of several organza layers. I love making these flowers and plan to use this technique more in the future right after I finish some previous projects...

Old bag

Sometimes I buy fabric that I just have to have and then I don't find the courage to cut it and make something. This is what happened with the little piece of vintage fabric I bought years ago on Ebay. It is really beautiful and has a special vintage-texture that is hard to find and yet, I didn't decide what to do with it.
Till yesterday.

It was a small piece that was just enough for this bag and some square leftovers I may use for a zipper pouch (in the future, I can't look at zippers at the moment ) I also used one ring bag handle that was left after I already used one for another bag of the same pattern.

I see zippers everywhere!

I haven't written for a long time because I was so busy with several things.
First, I was busy adding items to my new dutch Quilt en (and) Hobby online shop. I am not done with that yet.
I was also busy with a swap and is finally shipped last week and I am improving my etsy shop. I added and change the sections and now I have to fill these sections with products.
I started with the Zipper pouches.

It has been one and half weeks with the zippers...
I believe it is time to move on to the next section...
And the next section will be Fabric knitted bags.

In my schedule there are also 2 swaps till next month and my mother bought a flight ticket and she is coming here on June 14th!! It would then be almost 2 years since I last saw here because we left Israel a few days after my brothers wedding on June 21th 2007.
That means of course I should hurry up if I want my mother to take back some presents to the loved ones I miss greatly.

Lots of work then, how excitnig!

Matters of life and death part 2

In my last post I wondered and wished for advise about how to tell a little boy of 3.5 years old that grandma's dog is gone. I've received some excellent advice , here in my blog and also from the community girlfriends.
But Apparently I was the one having troubles with the subject. My son hasn't.
I began really cautious "Denzel, next weekend we'll go to the camping but Benji will not be going with us, Do you know why?"
"Benji is with the other dogs" he said very self assured.
"Which other dogs?"
"The other dogs, his friends and they give him kisses. he is happy"

A few days later John told him that Benji is in dogs-heaven.
"Benji doesn't have pain anymore and he can walk good" he tried to comfort our son.
"And he has all his teeth back" Denzel comforted his father.

What a smart and sensitive child I have!

On Sunday, like other mothers around the globe I too have received a present from my child. He painted a coffee cup for mother's day! he had to keep it a secret the whol weekend but when I wanted to put the present in my bag he said "NO!! it is a glass, it can break"

Matters of life and death

Last weekend I bought "my son" sidewalk chalk

It was so fun that I kept asking him to give me more assignments. Should I draw the five balloons? (from a Hebrew children book) Do you want me to draw aapje (monkey, his beloved softy)? And what about Pino (big bird from the dutch seasame street, I am not sure he is blue in the English version and in the Hebrew version he doesn't exist).
He, of course, wanted them all and I could draw and color!
I don't even remember doing that as a child! what a shame..

Then I took some photo's of Denzel and Benji, the dog of my mother in low. He is 15 years old and not in a good shape. I thought, who knows how long we still have with him, I should take pictures for the memories after he is gone...

I only didn't realize it will be so soon. When we cleaned the caravan we found blood in the kitchen and yesterday my mother in low took him to the clinic and they said he must be put to sleep immediately because he is dying (cancer probably) and suffers.

Next weekend we're going again and I am not sure how to tell Denzel that Benji is not going with us. ever again. How do you explain these things to a 3.5 years old child?

Benji 1994 - 2009. we'll miss you. rest in peace.

New bags in the block!

Just before my sewing machine broke I started a couple of new shoulder bags.
The first I made of a vintage fabric I bought long ago in Ebay in my vintage-crazy-period. I have tons of them in closets

The second I had to finish already with my other sewing machine.. The one that breaks needles

The strap is made of a black-gold cord that I found years ago in the flea market. It was put to sold as a fashion accessories (belt?) and the seller could not really tell how old and what its origin was. I bought it and put it in my cords and ropes box to wait for the right bag to come along...

And the third was a bag I made long ago (before I had this blog!) and didn't like the strap so I finally decided to change it. I finished it today with my repaired sewing machine!
