Bon voyage sewing machine

It looks like a happy package right?
Well... it isn't. In the box lay my beloved sewing machine. ready to send for repair...
I didn't keep the original packaging so I had to come up with another way to ship it safely. I looked all around the house for a suitable box and found this box in my son's room. It was filled with some of his baby clothes. Now I have to find another box to put his clothes that lay around in my studio.

A few weeks ago my sewing machine began making lots of noise and it felt stiff. I thought it needs to be oiled but stitchinfingers members said you don't oil the new generation sewing machines... I contacted the store, they said I could oil it and I did but last week the machine stopped sewing. the hand wheel doesn't turn anymore.
I have the machine only 1 and half years so it will be a free repair (I hope).

But what do you do without the sewing machine? especially if you are in the middle of a project for a swap?!
Take the other sewing machine out? yes, I did but it is a very cheap sewing machine and breaks too often the needle. Only for VERY calm people then.. and I am not
It didn't work very well.

I started all over again with a completely new project. Something that involve needle felting and hand stitching!

It is fun but I still miss my sewing machine and doesn't feel very happy.

My first rubber stamp

I didn't believe it when they first told me that rubber stamps are addictive ...
"ha" I said. "Addictive like fabric? I don't think so..."

I was wrong

For your eyes

My new product is based on my "famouse" quilted clutch only long and narrow. It is an eyeglass case! The embellisment is smaller but not less challenging!

I already have thousands of ideas for little embellishments.
I had a good weekend away and when I came back I found out one of my fiber art key chain was featured on the front page of Etsy thanks to rafya!

And is sold!

Inspirations

When I come home from work and there is still light outside it makes me so happy!
I took the camera for a round in the garden. I will never show the whole garden because I didn't have much time lately for gardening so you could guess how it looks...
But just before the sky became red and it started raining like someone flushed the toilet of heaven I made some beautiful photos.

The magnolia's are blooming and what an aroma....

And see these little hanging hearts! Isn't it just amazing?!
It is all nature creation! original!

Thousand roses

That is how I named the new clutch.

The idea was to create an incrediably romantic, luxurious, maybe something for a bride (do they need a purse? I really don't know because I haven't got married yet...)

I am so proud of this piece that I have to show off just a little bit more

Swap

I know I should proceed already with my quilt but I had so many in-between projects and I am still busy with one swap... The bad thing with swaps is that I can't show it until it is send and received. The good thing is that once I show it - it is actually finished!‬
The last swap was in the subject of kitchen/cooking/backing etc and must be made of textile/fiber. Now, the first part is farther for me than china.. But after you cook you need to sit down and eat right? So I took it that safe clean way instead...

And then I learned to make collages in picnik

It is a romantic table cloth with 5 crazy patchwork blocks. I stitched the seams the sewing machine decorative stitches and combinations of them. I especially like the tulips that you can see in the right bottom photo of the collage. I can convert a stitch to its mirror image so I made a little program of one tulip to the right and one tulip to the left.
I finished folding the backing fabric to the front to create the binding. that way I could sew the binding with the machine. I wanted all of the cloth to be sewn in the machine and not by hand because it is after all something you eat on and should be washed frequently..
I think I did it

The forbidden fruit

My fiberarts apple keychain was featured yesteday in the front page of etsy.

The treasury is made by Anakim. Thank you!

In my giveaway of last month I asked readers to write their favorite color combination for fiber art key chains. Beside the winner there were other interesting combinations. I wrote them all down so I won't forget the great ideas.
One of the combinations was purple, black and gold! This was the first I choose to make.

Where pink and gray meet

On Friday I made the treasury "where pink and gray meet"
I dedicated it to Sandra, then slipping into a comma while struggling breast cancer.
There is always hope I wrote in the subtitles and I really did hoped..

In 4 hours my treasury will expire. Sandra didn't make it as long as the treasury. She died Saturday morning. I hope she has found peace.
