Inspirations

Today on the way back from work I saw this:

So glad I had the camera with me because usually it is too heavy with all the kids stuff in my huge bag.. but today the child decided to stay home with dad (So I could also spend some time in the magazine store and choose one I don't need but must have )

Another thing I find inspiring is this:

Make sure you have the sounds on!

The swamp

I haven't written this week because I was busy moving all my stuff to the renewed sewing room in the attic, read an interesting book and being very excited for my cousin who became father a couple of weeks ago. I get updated in facebook.
But I did started something new and finished the purple swamp, which turned out to be quite nice for a swamp.

John, my boyfriend was busy today building me a little closet to put my fabric... as if they all could fit in one closet

Valentine who?

I don't celebrate valentine and I don't buy (or get...) presents. A couple of years ago I got a card... But since I've opened my shop in Etsy I am aware of the holiday so long ahead that it builds up a certain enthusiasm... I might surprise my boyfriend this year
And because everyone is busy with the subject and the treasuries are red I had to make something valentine-inspired for my shop too. So I did!

This time is the embellishment 3D! It is a cushion and I found this beautiful cotton lace. It is new but so vintagy... love at first sight. Remind me to write someday about my passion(obsession?) for trims and lace..

Faut souffrir pour être belle

Faut souffrir pour être belle
One must suffer to be beautiful

~french saying

That is what came into my mind when I needle punched the hair into my shopping fairy art doll bold head... And having her lying on my knees almost punched my knees with it.

At the last moment she also got a shiny earing!
It was first time using the felting needles I bought weeks ago!

And look at the curls in the front! Isn't she one chic and sexy shopping fairy?!

BTW she stands against the new curtains of my studio
But shopping fairy is done. what now?!....

She can fly

My shopping fairy has wings!
I didn't embellish the front side so much because there's not much of it seen anyway. I needle felted a big piece and then cut shapes and attached them with visible blanket stitch to the wings.
The front and back sides are attached with satin stitch.

The next step is to draw her face but I am waiting for the right time. There is not much to see at the moment. I had the TV the whole day turned off and when my son turned it on we watched stupid Barney together.

Mixed feelings

The year 2009 began for me with a couple of time in the front page of Etsy and my first clutches are sold! I was so excited and images began feeling my head inspiring me for the new clutches.
And then I watched the news and was forced back to reality with no soft landing! Israel went to war and calling thousands of men to go front. I called my mother and she wasn’t home. When I finally reached my father I was already completely in panic. Where are my brothers?! Have they put on the uniform yet? No, my father reassured me and I started to cry…

Today was a strange day. I listened to the reporters the whole day and since my sewing machine is still in the living room (I am waiting for my new table to be delivered!) I could listen and quilt at the same time. I started with a purple fabric and quilted circles. One circle and another one and they formed together the swamp. And I thought of Gaza swamp… I told my mother today that if it continues we will not come to Israel in 3 months…

Then I continued with something I thought would cheer me up. Flowers. But they were red and they kept reporting and called it a “blood bath”...

With the last one I gained serenity again. I love the sea… The circles are the waves and the brown lines is the sand. I ordered lots of gemstones a few days ago and it is already on the way. I will put some stones on this one and maybe some seashells I collected one time at the beach.

Will 2009 be a good year of not?

Project mandala

I have already posted some sneak peeks of this big project that kept me busy for weeks.
But now that I know it is received I can show the whole thing!

This is supposed to be a mandala though it isn't completely round and is not symmetrical at all. But I did work from the center to the edges and the center is the heart of the mandalaץ I named the quilt "the garden" and in the center lays the "forbidden fruit". In the apple floats a 13 weeks old fetus that became my son. I made it round my son's 3rd birthday so I thought it was appropriateו

Then I got a bit carried away with all the beading. It was so fun and meditative!

And one last photo. The garden has something from my own garden!

As soon as I finish my art doll I will begin a new project of beaded quilt and this time it is not for a swap so I will post photo's of the process and not only at the end. hope you'll like it.
