bags

I promised myself a new bag because this:

will not hold much longer..
I already choose the fabric but I don't have a pattern yet.
I did make a little lunch bag though

I was inspired by corry and used colors I don't normally use.

For Denzel I used ALL the colors I didn't in the lunch bag

He wants to carry his bag all the time and the only thing he puts there is a tiny plastic camera that he uses to "take photo's" of people in the tram . really close-up photo's

end and new beginning

The last day of the summer was a very sunny day. I have decided it is high time to conquer the binding-fear and to end the letterquilt once and for all. It was the first time I bind a quilt. I have a pile of others waiting...
After slip stitching in the sun I made a sleeve and hanged the quilt on the wall in Denzel's room.
so.
done.

The rest of the day I had to read to him the alphabet 5 times in a row each time.
Today is a nice autumn day and I already started a new little project because I really need a new bag..
And I am very excited because maybe tomorrow I will receive my new needle felting machine Janome Xpression that I bought for my 32's birthday which is today.

To new levels!

Fairy with a Pearl Earring

What I like about challenges and swaps is that I create sometimes pieces I wouldn't do otherwise or plan (=fantasize) making but don't find the time to schedule it between all my running projects.
An art doll was one of these fantasies I had long time.

Fairy with a pearl earring is already swapped and received this week, therefor I can show her around now.

But unlike other swaps and challenges, this time I strongly feel the fairy with a pearl earring is defiantly not the last art doll I want to make.

Limited colors

I am not crazy about cushions and my boyfriend doesn't understand what they are for anyway if to sit comfortably you need to toss them aside..
But a challenge is a challenge and I find it hard to resist.
The challenge was to make a cushion 40 cm square using only the colors red, black and white.
I didn't know if I had enough material in these colors: challenge!
It is nice to go through the boxes once in a while because I found some other stuff that I forgot I had

First experiment with rust dyeing

conclusions from the first experiment:

  • It is beautiful!
  • It is definitely not the last time!
  • I need more rusted material. maybe interesting figures.
  • It dried too quickly. Next time I will try to keep it wet longer.

More pouches

Always looking for new things to add to my crazy quilted embellishments for the pouches I thought why not felting balls? The fact that I have never felted before should not stop me.
Since then I have already made 40 of so felted balls in all colors. I am planning of making a necklace from them but haven't come yet to the right design.

I used the brown butterflies of my butterfly fabric collection. And brown satin for the lining and no pockets this time.

Another one I have made a while ago I quilted without marking lines. I used the flowers of the fabric as the mark. in each square I locked one flower. I used for the first time my long-ago-purchased walking foot and I would never ever quilt lines without it again!! It make a wonderful difference!
