Swaps are exciting.
This time we swaped makeup-pouches/bags. I like challanges but I also like not to be pressured and take my time. I need the time to bring an idea up and then to choose the materials and the time to change my mind ;o)
the bag is quite basic. the fabric is a curtain left overs with black velvet I quilted with metalic machine thread.
The lining is made of 2 layers: pink satin and lace
but most of the work is making the embelishment. I had the idea of making a window. A view of a roses garden on the edge of a norwegian fjord. I was once in such a vacation house. I can't forget. It was really one of the amazing pictures of nature that I have ever seen and I hope one day to go back.

opposites

My son is still (couple of years now...) exploring his emotions. Recently expressing anger has changed from throwing himself on the floor and yelling to bringing hands to the face doing as if he cries (but don't). I would like him to learn to express how he feels.
P revious week subject inspired me to start the emotions-book I was planing to make for him. The idea is that in every page a child shows different emotion: happy, sad, angry, scared etc.
here are the first 2:
I haven't decided yet if the opposite emotions will be in pages near each other or behind each other.

Are aprons wearable arts?
I am really proud of my first wearable art creation!
The apron is made for a swap.
I didn't have a pattern, I had an idea. And it started with the pockets. Crazy quilted with the machine (because after all it is an apron and should survive washing in the machine). I used different decorative stitched and some free motion.
Then I had this vintage fabric I got once as a gift from an Ebay seller after buying some other fabric from her and this fabric I didn't win so she send me a piece (a huge piece!)
Then I went to the market to choose lace. And they were so many! I choose one with a golden-old-vintage look. sewn between the outside and the lining.
Then I thought It would be so nice to have a red polka dot strips to tie in the back and behind the neck but I didn't found one and it was almost time to send the swap apron... I was a bit disappointed because I had this vision of how it would look like and it was not going to happen but then when the green wide satin ribbon was on I was happy - It was perfect!
My first wearable art? should I go further with this new passion?

Home sweet home
"The best way to keep children at home is to make the home atmosphere pleasant, and let the air out of the tires.”
Dorothy Parker
I was inspired by the HAPPY GARDEN of Kim and made these keychains for the children that will receive the pencil cases.

Good to be back
It has been a long long long week. without my sewing machine, away from the computer, very warm and very very close to my mother-in-law.
We didn't go to the camping much this year so I thought I didn't mind spending there a whole week... my allergies and the smoke surrounding my mother-in-law reminded me that I do mind.
Denzel had the best time of his life making everything and everyone wet and laughingAapje didn't laugh
I didn't came back empty handed though. I came back with cotton bathing for my in-process baby quilt and I did some free stitching and read almost a whole book

Now I a back and busy again.
There are some project that scream to be finished at once
the curtains for Denzel's room need to be made short
2 swaps
1 roosting robin
a dress
And as if I am not busy enough, I volunteer to open a blog for the camping...
