needlecase more progress

I have made some more progress today and the left corner is almost ready

It was raining the whole day and was quite dark and that made it difficult to make clear photo's. The white circle in the bottom left corner is a little pincushion from felt. I think it can be very practical when working with a couple of needles at the same time to put them temporarily outside the needlecase in a little cute pincushion instead of everytime to put them back inside.

I have one seam left! I can't decide how I want it
The best thing is then to do something else. for example another little pincushion for my keys.

needlecase progress

I have made some progress this weekend with the needle case.

The right corner is ready and I am really happy with it especially the chain stitch hand-fans.

I also attached the second make-up purse embelishment to the quilted pink fabric that my boyfriend helped me choose from the stash.
I say "John, I need your advice" and he says "oh no"
Then I show him some fabrics and ask him what would he choose. Somethimes I pick something else at the end. we have such a different taste!

But this time I went with his choice and I am satisfied with the result.

A new project

Beginning a new project is always exciting. This block is 4''X8'' and will become a needle case such as the one I have made before (see both sides and inside in my flickr).

Through the community Stitching Fingers I met (virtually ) other crazy quilt stitchers and got so many other blogs to be subscribed to and so many new idea's to try. With this needlecase I will practice further beading and I will post in my blog the process.

Stitching fingers

One of the best desicions of last week was to join the community "Stitching fingers". I don't even remember how I came to know about it. probably one of the many-many blogs I am reading everyday wrote about it. I klicked to see what's all about and saw some familiar "faces", crazy quilt stitches and beads. of course I subscribed right away.
a gathering of so many talented artists, where I can be inspired, share and learn a lot (especially about fiber books which is on the top op my list now) is just the place I was looking for to settle down.
Thank you, Sharon b. and all the other memebers.

Green

One day the make-up bag I am working on will be ready. The embelishment was yet another crazy quilt practice and I have learned what charms are. I am really getting addicted to bead-embroidery and should purchase a book.

Green is really a favorite color of mine and I get inspired from nature and all the plants and flowers I see around. I am trying to give my son also the love of nature and he found it lots of fun to plant the tomato seeds. Everyday we check how they are doing. Oh, how he was happy to see the first leaf! They grew a lot this week and I should separate them soon. maybe even put them directly in the ground.

And meanwhile I was attaching the embelishment to the fabric of the make-up purse. adding a "Hand made"charm and a golden gimp braid on the seam.

The strawberries bloom!

Embelishemt ready. next step is the vinyl inside pockets.

Wish me luck. It is my first time sewing vinyl

Mother's day

Yesterday was mother's day. We went away for the weekend and when we came back John reminded me that I haven't opened my present yet. Made for me by my son, Denzel, 2 years old and 5 months:

Weekend was nice and warm and I was sitting outside in the sun working on new ATCs while Denzel sat in his boat filled with water (it was soooo warm, we are not used to it in holland)

In the first card my grandmother, a mother of 4, grandmother of 12, was great grandmother of 5 boys when she passed away a few months ago. The photo was taken in 1966 and my mother stands right in the middle behind and between her parents.

In the second card my mother and me. The photo was taken in 1984 while my mother was expecting her third child, my youngest brother who was born a couple of weeks after this photo was taken.

And In the last card: My son and me. Photo was taken last summer.

3 generations of mothers.
3 generations of sewing mothers.

I don't have a daughter yet but it seems sons can also follow mama's way

This was my mother's day 2008. far away from my mother who had her first mother's day without her mother and way to close to my mother in-law...
when I finished the embelishments on the photo's I have decided not to make ATC's after all. the project is not yet done.

My first ATC's

After sewing the mirror in the lining of my make-up bag (and applying to sew, mama, sew! tutorial contest and not win ) I starded the embelishmet of the front of my still-imaginary-makeup-bag.
I came recently accross crazy quilt and a new world opened to me. No rules, everything can. just the way I like it

And I have also joined an ATC group in yahoo and swapped for the first time. ATC in the theme of spring

I have made a serie of 4 with tulips in a vase by the window. in the second photo most left you see a birdview of a blooming garden and in the most right fish in blue water.
They were much fun to make and not easy to give away
however, I think it wasn't my last swap.
